IVY CITY: A NEIGHBORHOOD TRANSITIONING

A CityLab Study by Aaron Fettgather

This website unpacks the capital investment currently underway in Washington DC's Ward 5, Ivy City neighborhood.  While the incredible amount of investment in the area has increased commerce, it has also increased rents for indigenous residents.  Where possible, an effort is made to address the needs of original residents. It is the intent of this website to identify avenues of financial inclusion.

ENHANCEMENTS TO THE IVY CITY COMMUNITY

Capital Investment and Distillers Haven

Ivy City is undergoing significant capital investment projects.  The newly completed Hecht Warehouse was converted to a 300+ modern apartment building. The Crummell School site is planned to be redeveloped with a proposed community center.  Ivy City is also home to DC's only distilleries.
