GOAL 4:  PROMOTE PERSONAL-AGENCY, ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP, RESPONSIVE PUBLIC OFFICIALS

Helping Ivy City residents stay informed and integrated in public policy decisions

The Ivy City Civic Association is credited with stopping a proposal that would have turned the Crummell School site into a bus depot.  The unimaginable health concerns of idling vehicle exhaust and toxic runoff were averted by community activism.

Still, there is more that can be done.  Can pressure be put on the city and developers to ensure the Crummell School development is inclusive of social cohesion accelerators like a vocational school, day care, health clinic, and a recreational center?  If not, can community activists ensure these are included in other developments?
